I love fries but they don´t love me. I found out the hard way and I had to say goodbye to those classical fries long time ago.

I think I´m not going to exaggerate if I say that fries are a favourite food of 90 % of the world´s population. So, why are not regular fries good for your hormones? Unfortunately, fries drive your Estrogen crazy. Why? Because of all the processed, hydrogenated oils that they use to fry them with that are highly inflammatory. They also raise the blood sugar which can mess up your insulin and lead to diabetes. If you can´t consume organic potatoes you are also putting yourself at risk of GMO and toxic pesticides.

So, what does it mean? Will you never ever get the pleasure of eating fries again?

NO!!! I have a solution for you.

SWEET POTATOE ANTIFLAMATORY RECIPE.

Meet Mr sweet boy

There are a few different types of sweet potatoes and you should know that unlike a potato (edible tubers of the nightshade family), the sweet “potato” is a large edible root within the morning glory family. They’re also different from yams, which are edible tubers within the lily family and native to Africa and Asia. Chances are the “yams” found in your local supermarket are actually a variety of sweet potato. True yams are distinguishable by their blackish/brown, bark-like skin and white or purple-toned flesh.

Sweet potatoes have a lower glycemic load and glycemic index than regular potatoes, meaning your blood sugar won't rise as high when you eat a sweet potato compared to a white potato! They can help regulate blood sugar, even in Type 2 diabetics. Research has verified that sweet potato extract can increase adiponectin, a protein hormone produced by your adipocytes, to regulate the way your body metabolizes insulin.

Plus, they’re rich in

  • Vitamin B6

  • vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene

  • Vitamin C

  • Potassium

  • Fiber

However, make sure you consume sweet potatoes in moderation if you have insulin problems, as some varieties are high in fructose.

Ingredients:

1 orange sweet potato

2 tbsp coconut or olive oil (organic only)

1/2 tsp ground paprika

1/2 tsp ground cumin

pinch of black pepper

1/4 tsp ground turmeric

dry rosemary, thyme or oregano

Method:

1) Preheat oven to 350º F (180º C).

2) Wash, peel and cut the sweet potato into wedges (like thick fries).

3) Toss the wedges with coconut or olive oil and spices (except salt) in a bag or bowl. Arrange the wedges in a baking dish, making sure they're separated and not bunched together. Sprinkle with sea salt.

4) Bake the sweet potatoes for 20 minutes or until done.

This can be served over a tossed green salad with some nuts, or as a side dish.

Enjoy it and don´t forget
